Meet the Team


Nick Morgan CTA – Director

Nick qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1997. Nick previously worked in the accounts, audit and taxation departments of two international firms of accountants. During this period he advised clients ranging from individuals to international companies on accounting and taxation issues.

Since joining HJE in 1998, Nick has developed a specialist knowledge of the accounting, taxation and financial requirements of business in the Healthcare sector. Having previously been engaged as an Associate Director, Nick now assumes a key role as a Director providing expert advice to clients in both the Primary and Secondary Care Sectors. Nick regularly presents seminars on a wide range of financial matters to GP training programmes, GP led groups and NHS Senior Executives. Nick is a member of the UK 200 Healthcare Committee.


Hayley Bradfield ACA FCCA CTA – Director

Hayley is a director at HJE and is also a Partner in our sister company, Watts Gregory LLP. Hayley specialises in corporate tax and is heavily involved in advisory tax work for the corporate and owner managed business sectors. Hayley has extensive knowledge covering a number of tax breaks and RnD.

Previously Hayley has lectured on professional accountancy courses at undergraduate and post graduate level and will occasionally still lecture on an ad hoc basis.  Hayley now gives regular seminars on behalf of Watts Gregory/HJE and the professional accountancy bodies.

Hayley has two young boys who keep her very busy when she doesn’t have her head down at work.


Huw Padgett FCCA – Senior Manager

Huw joined HJE in January 2008 after graduating from the University of Glamorgan with a BA (Honours) degree in Accounting and Finance. Huw is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and gained his Fellowship of the Association in 2022.

Whilst working at HJE, Huw has gained experience and specialist knowledge of accountancy and taxation within the healthcare sector and works closely throughout the year with several of our GP Partners and GP Locums. Huw also has experience dealing with the NHS Pension, VAT for dispensing practices, cashflow projections, drawings, along with providing assistance with certain accountancy packages, such as Xero.

Outside of work Huw enjoys watching and taking part in most sports and is particularly keen at water skiing and playing golf. Huw also enjoys socialising with friends and family. Although, most of his time is usually taken spent with his daughter and son.


Nicola Conybeare FCA – Senior Manager

Nicola started her career in accountancy in 1987, having gained a BSC Economics (in Accountancy) honours degree from Cardiff University. Nicola became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1991 becoming a Fellow of the Institute in 2015.

Before joining the team at HJE in 2004, Nicola gained experience with two local firms of Chartered Accountants, dealing with small and medium size businesses, from sole traders to companies, operating in varying business sectors. Since joining HJE, Nicola has built up considerable specialist knowledge of accountancy within the healthcare sector, dealing with both accountancy and taxation requirements for a portfolio of clients. Her work also includes dealing with NHS superannuation, cash flow projections, extraction of funds from partnerships and providing Sage and Xero software assistance. Nicola also deals with a portfolio of limited company clients.

Nicola is married with two adult children. She is a keen caravanner, taking trips away with the family as often as possible.


Tammy Loughran FCCA – Senior Manager

Tammy joined HJE in March 2022 and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), gaining fellowship of the association in 2006.

Before joining HJE, Tammy has gained extensive experience in another accountancy firm managing a Healthcare accounting department for over 20 years.  During this time Tammy has developed specialist knowledge of the healthcare sector working closely with GP practices, dental practitioners, GP locums and hospital consultants.

Tammy likes to spend her time outside of work with her family.  The weekends usually involve going to the cinema, ten pin bowling or visiting relatives with her two daughters.  She is also an avid reader if she finds the time.


Taryn James FCCA – Taxation Manager

Taryn graduated from Portsmouth University in 2005 with a BA Honours degree in Accounting and Finance and joined HJE in the same year. Taryn completed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants examinations in 2009 and become a Fellow of the Association in 2022.

During her time at HJE Taryn has dealt with the personal accounting and tax affairs of a portfolio of clients, gaining a considerable amount of experience with clients in the healthcare sector, ranging from GP’s to dentists to consultants. As part of this tax advisory role, Taryn also assists clients with the preparation Annual Pension Allowance calculations, providing advice on actual and potential annual pension allowances charges.

Outside of the office Taryn is part of several sewing groups and can often be found either in her craft room or walking her dog on the beaches and around the countryside of Wales.


Robert Slyne FCCA – Taxation Manager

Robert joined HJE in January 2008 after completing his BA Accountancy & Finance degree at the University of Glamorgan. Robert initially joined HJE as a trainee taxation assistant and became a Fellow of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) in December 2020.

During his time as a Taxation Manager at HJE, Robert has developed a significant understanding of taxation, accounting and pension legislation and is responsible for a client base including GP Locums, GP Partners, Consultants, Dentists etc.

Robert is married with three sons and is a keen follower of all sport in general.


Richard Davies ACCA – Manager

Richard joined HJE in February 2016 as an accounts assistant where he began studying towards becoming a member of the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) which he achieved in June 2021.

Throughout his time at HJE, Richard has gained specialist medical accountancy knowledge and experience providing accountancy services to individuals and businesses within the healthcare sector. Richard’s client base primarily consists of Partnerships where he prepares financial statements, superannuation certificates, and more recently he has taken on a portfolio of tax clients.

Outside of work Richard enjoys long walks with his dog and has a keen interest in football.


Adam Gardner ACCA – Manager

After gaining a BA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Glamorgan in Treforest, Adam started his accountancy career in 2011 at HJE as a trainee in the tax department. After completing a 5 and half year stint in HJE dealing with the personal tax and accounting affairs of medical professional clients, Adam moved to another specialist medical firm of accountants in 2016 to deal with the accounting and taxation affairs of limited companies and partnerships. Adam returned to HJE in May 2021 in a management role within the corporate department of HJE to deal with the ever growing corporate client base. Adam became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 2020.

Adam has built up a good knowledge of accounting and taxation with private limited companies and maintains a portfolio of medical consultants and small owner managed businesses and business owners, mostly in the private sector. His work includes all aspect of accounts preparation of limited companies, including FRS 105 and FRS 102 1A accounts, corporate tax, advice on incorporation and formation of companies as well as shareholding restructuring and personal tax compliance.

Adam is married and spends most of his time on long walks with his wife and two huskies. He is also a Welsh rugby enthusiast and a keen golfer.
